Angel Contacts: JitterBug Lens Cleaner

Hello all,

I'm currently freezing my butt off in front of the computer, as my place has been having heating problems.  That is why I haven't been posting as frequently; it's too cold to stay my room.

Anyway, I just wanted to share something I purchased recently: JitterBug Lens Cleaner.  I've been eyeing it for a while (i.e. 7 months) on the Angel Contacts website, but have been resisting because I kept telling myself that $21 is too much.  Then I saw that the website had a promo code going on for 5% off everything on the website and soooo.. I caved and ordered it.  I had a choice of the lens case, and chose the purple elephant -- so darn cute!

The ordering process was simple and quick; online ordering on October 29th, and it was shipped the next day.  I received it within three working days, on Monday November 4th.  I liked that the website provides a tracking number too.  Useful to appease the OCD like me ;)

The product came in a cute box with a picture of the lens cleaner.  Everything was embedded in foam packing material, and it took a while for me to lodge the stuff out: lens cleaner, lens case, and a pouch to store everything in when traveling.  The lens cleaner came with a suction cup thing so that, I suppose, you can store it on your mirror or something.  However, it didn't stick for me.  No biggie.

There are two modes for cleaning:
1) Light clean

  • I use this mode to quickly clean the lenses just before using them

2) Deep clean

  • I use this mode to clean it overnight

I currently use monthly Air Optix clear soft lenses, and often find that after ~5-6 uses of them, they can get really irritating.  The feeling is ten times worse when I didn't have enough sleep the night before.  Honestly I had dubious thoughts about the lens cleaner making any difference -- I like to think that I clean my lenses pretty darn well. After almost a month of using it, I can say that I feel a difference when wearing my lenses that have been cleaned.  Before, I was able to wear my lenses for 3 hours tops before my eyes start to dry out or get irritated.  After using the cleaner, I've been able to keep the lenses in the entire day, right til the moment I needed to remove them to sleep.

To reiterate, this JitterBug lens cleaner is amazing, and is recommended for daily lens wearers.  I absolutely love it!  Angel Contacts is very professional and replies to my stupid question e-mails quickly.  I can tell they value their customers.  Wouldn't mind ordering from them again.

  1. Hi. Your article was so helpful. Do you need to transfer the contact lens to another case with fresh solution after the 6-hour (overnight) cleansing; or is it okay if the lens stay there? Because I feel that the dirt that has come off from the lenses is still floating there with the lens. Sorry if my question sounds funny, but I'm a bit of an OC when it comes to contact lenses. I've been reading all the stuff I can find with Jitterbug before I purchase. Thanks so much for the time!

    1. Hi there :) Thanks for dropping by.
I personally don't transfer the lenses into fresh solution prior to use, and haven't found any problems so far with this routine. Sometimes, I would quickly rinse both sides of the lenses with fresh solution before popping them into my eyes, but not always (lazy). I suppose transferring to new solution after cleaning would help with the cleaning more, but for someone who wears contacts everyday, it would be a hassle, and costly for solution ;)
Hope this helps with your decision!
